Profile: Sam Booker

Hi i am Sam Booker and i started being a youth councillor in February 2008. I liked the idea of being a youth councillor because i would be able to put other young peoples point of views across to show other adults and other young people what young children and teenagers like and dislike in the Selby District Area.
 
Being a youth councillor has also benefitted me because i have had to learn how to speak louder for presentations to tell people about us and what we do plus my confidence has also grown as when we have gone too previous meetings i have had to talk to people i have only just met. 
 
I like being a youth councillor because you are able to try and change parts of Selby and the surrounding areas to how young people want it to be. We also fund for trips and new equipment for clubs and groups who meet up regularly. Being a youth councillor also means you can make a positive contribution to Selby and the surrounding areas.
